Dyke and Drainage Information

Several policies and programs have been developed to help protect farmland and improve farming conditions in Surrey. The Soil Deposition By-law includes enhanced soil management measures and enforcement capabilties to better protect lands and the environment within the City of Surrey while allowing for reasonable opportunities for soil deposition and removal. Surrey's dyking program is designed to help manage and improve drainage of farmland in Surrey.

DYKING DISTRICTS

Surrey has three dyking districts:

  • Surrey Dyking District
  • Mud Bay District
  • Colebrook Dyking District

Public access is allowed on dykes at Mud Bay Park and Elgin Heritage Park.  To view City parks and paths that are within or near the Agricultural Land Reserve, click here.  Park plans are also available for Mud Bay Park and Surrey Lake Park.

Dykes often occur on private property, as well.  Where this occurs, please respect private property.
