Allow 48 hrs for permit processing before calling for an inspection. The extra time required to inspect work done without an electrical permit will incur a penalty to the contractor of double the posted permit fee. All permit fees are based on the full contract price including material and labour.
Note: Your permit applications or inspection may be delayed if:
- The permit value is too low for the scope of work described. Additional documenatation may be required as proof of job value.
- Insufficient information or scope of work submitted with the permit application.
- The contractor is not in good standing with the BC Safety Authority.
- Any associated Building, Plumbing or other Permits are not ready.
- There are By-law Violations or Stop Work Orders placed on property
- The contractor is working outside of the scope allowed by their FSR classification.
- Other than the Electrical Contractor or the designated FSR calls for the inspection.
- The contractor does not supply a Contractor's Authorization form before calling for each phase of inspection.

Request for Variance: A contractor may request a variance or deviation from the BCEC under 2-030 or pursuant to Section 32 of the Safety Standards Act.
Residential Single Family < Additional information and or requirements.
This permit type provides for installation and inspection the following items:
- The contractor will be required to obtain a separate permit for each electrical room supplying individual buildings.
- It is recommended the contractor to arrange inspections for 5 to10 units per inspection request. The inspector may help the contractor to identify possible deficiencies and corrective action early in the project before completion of an entire project.
- Only the Electrical Contractor or project FSR may call for an inspection.
- A Contractor's Authorization or Declaration form must be submitted to city hall for each final inspection.

High Voltage Installations < Additional information and or requirements
All high voltage installations must be designed by a Professional Engineer. Sealed drawings are to be submitted and field reviews performed. All Reports to be Submitted Two Working Days Prior to Inspection Request.
