What is an electrical permit and when is one required?
An electrical permit is a permission or authorization in writing by the City to perform work regulated under Surrey's Electrical By-law number 15596. Except for the exemptions listed, all electrical work performed within the City of Surrey must be done under permit.
Surrey is divided into six inspection areas each with a designated inspector. Our inspectors are available for consultation at city hall weekdays mornings 8:30am to 9:15am, afternoon 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Click here to download the Electrical Inspection Area map.
