On July 28, 2008, Council endorsed a planning process for the Newton Town Centre area in partnership with TransLink. TransLink and the City of Surrey have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to create a new plan for the core of the Newton Town Centre, focused on a new Newton Transit Exchange.

This plan is a key component of TransLink’s and Surrey’s plans to significantly enhance transit services and facilities in Surrey, and to support these enhancements with higher density, transit-oriented development along major corridors.
