REDEVELOPMENT OF THE CLOVERDALE FAIRGROUNDS
On June 25, 2007 Council received Corporate Report No. C015 regarding the Final Concept Plan of the Cloverdale Fairgrounds and endorsed, in principle, the Cloverdale Fairgrounds Concept Plan as the basis for land use and urban design decisions related to the redevelopment of the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.
The Cloverdale Fairgrounds site comprises approximately 138 acres of land. It is bounded by 60 Avenue, 176 Street (Highway 15), 64 Avenue, and by residential lots and Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School to the east. Please click here to view the study area and here to view the site map. About 48 acres of the Fairgrounds are leased to the owners of Fraser Downs casino and racetrack. The draft Concept Plan covers the remaining 90 acres. It proposes a number of possible future uses and amenities including a trade & exhibition centre, multi-purpose recreation centre, supporting commercial uses such as hotels, restaurants and related commercial uses, open space and sports fields, parking facilities and ancillary services such as Surrey Tourism and Convention Association information kiosk and offices.
