Information Technology

This Division is responsible for enabling internal and external customers with appropriate technology, information, and applications to maximize business effectiveness from the City's investment in information technology.  The IT Division is responsible for providing City operating departments with information technology research, deployment, operations, maintenance, and customer service. 
 
The Information Technology Division consists of the following three Sections:
 
Application Services
 
This Section is responsible for delivering innovative technology solutions, enabling the City to meet business area and corporate objectives.  Application Services is responsible for application deployment, maintenance, and support.  Effective delivery of information technology solutions is accomplished through the section's provision of specialized advice and consultation during opportunity assessments and by delivering detailed planning, business and systems analysis, systems design, quality assurance, implementation and training.
 
Business Solutions Services
 
This Section is responsible for providing business and technology planning expertise to customers to enable process improvements to their business. This Section provides technology product research and architecture for the development of corporate, departmental, and divisional plans. Consultation and recommendations for business solutions, business opportunities and service requests are provided by the Section's Customer Account Managers, Representatives and the Service Desk. This section is also responsible for the coordination and delivery of first-level information technology support services.
 
Infrastructure Services
 
The Infrastructure Services Section is responsible for the continued effective operation of the City's information technology infrastructure.  This includes the support, maintenance and management of the wide and local area data networks, telephone systems and voice network, computer processing platforms used by corporate information systems, security firewalls, virus detection, system management applications, enterprise wide data backup and recovery, electronic storage management, and the legacy mainframe infrastructure.
