Councillor Gill was born in Kamloops and moved to Surrey in 1986. In 1988, he graduated from BCIT with a Financial Management Diploma and later became a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). He is the Controller of Coast Foundation Society, the largest non-profit mental health agency in BC.
First elected in 2005, he believes that Council must respect taxpayer dollars by holding the line on tax increases and spending tax dollars wisely. Councillor Gill is proud of his involvement in adopting Surrey's new Crime Reduction Strategy and in establishing Surrey's Housing and Homelessness Foundation. He is Chair of Surrey's Finance and Audit Committees.
Councillor Gill has participated in numerous fundraising activites that have benefited Surrey Memorial Hospital, the Cancer Foundation and Children's Hospital.
Councillor Gill and his wife Pav are raising their three children, ages 4 to 10 in Fraser Heights.
Councillor Gill is a member of the Surrey First Coalition.
