Barinder Rasode grew up in Kamloops BC and has been a resident of Surrey for the past 20 years. She studied at SFU and works for the Professional Employees Association.
Barinder believes that we need a better public transit system and supports Mayor Watts' work to get greater funding from Victoria and Ottawa to address transit funding inadequacies in Surrey. She Chairs the Board of Trade's Business Excellence Committee and serves on the Parks and Community Services Committee and the Capital Cabinet of the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation. She also volunteers for the RCMP.
Barinder organizes the Annual Rasode Soccer Tournament to raise awareness about the negative impact of drugs. In 2007, over 1,100 young people participated in the Tournament in Newton.
Barinder and husband Major, Deputy Sheriff for the Surrey Provincial Court, live in Newton where they are raising three young children. Barinder Rasode is a member of the Surrey First Coalition.
