Councillor Steele has been a member of Council since 1998. As Chair of the Public Safety Committee, she is committed to building safer neighborhoods across Surrey through the new Crime Reduction Strategy which puts more police officers on our streets and addresses addiction issues and homelessness.
Councillor Steele believes that these new approaches are already working for the residents. Auto theft is down 50% over the past five years and in 2007, 840 grow-ops were shut down in Surrey.
Councillor Steele Chairs the Focus on Seniors Committee and also serves on the Finance Committee, the Surrey Crime Prevention Committee and the Downtown Surrey BIA. She also serves on the Metro Vancouver Water and Sustainable Region Committee and as Vice Chair of the Metro Vancouver Parks Committee.
A mother of three, Councillor Steele has lived in Guildford for 28 years.
Councillor Steele is a member of the Surrey First Coalition.
