
An independent candidate, Anne is a married mother of three and a Special Education Assistant in Surrey. A Parent Advisory Council (PAC) member since 1996, Anne has been a representative for PACs at district and provincial levels, on School Planning Councils, Vision 2010 and Regional Forums, and a District Advisory Committee. Anne chairs the North Surrey Learning Centre’s first PAC, having drafted their Constitution and Bylaws in May.
Through Parks, Recreation & Culture Committees, the Whalley Community Association, and the DPAC Board of Directors, Anne is a strong advocate for building Community School Partnerships. Anne’s goals are to increase understanding of educational issues among parents, increase dialog between educational partners, to raise support for, and expectations of, inner-city schools.
Anne Van Rhyn is an impassioned voice for students and parents, an effective team player, a creative problem solver, initiator and implementer of ideas to serve students, schools and the community.
