Surrey’s elected officials comprise Surrey's City Council and Surrey’s Board of Education. Surrey voters choose: one (1)Mayor, eight (8) Councillors, and six (6) School Trustees. The 2008 Local Government Election will be held on Saturday, November 15th, polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Advanced voting opportunities will be held on November 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th for voters preferring to vote prior to November 15th, 2008. Advanced voting opportunities will be held at the following locations: 1. Fleetwood Community Centre, 15996 – 84 Avenue; and

Are You Qualified to Vote in the 2008 Local Government Election?There are two categories of electors for local government elections in the Province of British Columbia: Resident Electors and Non-Resident Property Electors. You are qualified to register as a Resident Elector in the City of Surrey if you meet the following criteria: 1. You must be an individual who is, or who will be on general voting day, 18 years of age or older;
2. You must be a Canadian citizen;You must have been a resident of British Columbia for at least six months prior to the day of registration;
3. You must have been a resident of the City of Surrey for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration;
4. You must not be disqualified from voting by any statute or law. You are qualified to register as a Non-resident Property Elector in the City of Surrey if you meet the following criteria: You must be 18 years of age or older on or before general voting day; You must be a Canadian citizen; You must be a resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; You must be a registered owner of real property in the City of Surrey for at last 30 days immediately before the day of registration; You must not be eligible to register as a resident elector in the City of Surrey Must only register in relation to one piece of property; and If more than one person owns the property, only one owner may register and that person must have the written consent of a majority of the other owners. NOTE: A non-resident elector must provide proof of ownership at the time of registration and have written consent if more than one person owns the property. You must bring at least 2 documents that provide evidence of your identity and place of residence. At least one of the documents must contain your signature. You must also be prepared to sign a solemn declaration as to your place of residence. If you do not comply with this requirement you will not be registered to vote. The following documents only will be accepted for identification: 1. a British Columbia Driver's License,
2. a British Columbia Identification Card issued by the Motor Vehicle Branch,
3. an Owner's Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle License issued by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia,
