Councillor Linda Hepner was born and educated in the Maritimes and moved to Surrey in 1984.  Councillor Hepner is married to Alan McMillan, an educator/administrator at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design with whom she shares a creative spirit.   She has one son, two stepsons and a granddaughter.

Councillor Hepner has a passion for building a city that provides jobs for its residents and creates a well-balanced community.  She has worked diligently to attract new businesses to Surrey and her marketing accomplishments received national and international recognition.

Councillor Hepner has tirelessly promoted Surrey through various community initiatives.  She is Past Chair of the City's Whalley Implementation Team spearheading the revitalization drive and she managed the creation of the Surrey Tourism & Convention Association and the establishment of a 2% hotel tax to fund tourism initiatives.  She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Surrey Foundation and assisted with a capital fundraising project for the YMCA.  Additionally, she has volunteered her time to Victim Services, the Child Development Centre, the United Way and the Surrey Firefighter's Charitable Foundation.

"There is so much promise in the city and I am proud to be serving on Council to effect change and manage the dynamics of this growing city in a way that promotes economics, sustainability and liveability.  I want my decision making to add value through honest and open dialogue."
