Emergency Disaster Homepack

Be prepared to be on your own without help for 72 hours or more, at home, in your car or at work.

The following are some suggestions for your own Emergency Disaster Homepack.

 
  • Water - 3 day supply (min. 1 litre per person per day. Ideally 4 litres a day)
  • Water purification tablets
  • Food Bars for three days
  • Clothing
  • Walking shoes
  • Work gloves
  • Dust mask
  • Goggles
  • Emergency blanket
  • Emergency poncho
  • Multi-purpose knife
  • 12 hour light sticks
  • String (misc. uses. e.g. shoelaces.)
  • Favourite toy/picture of family.
  • Games (deck of cards)
  • Personal toiletries: Toothbrush/paste, soap, facecloth, mirror, comb etc.
  • Flashlight
  • Battery powered radio
  • Batteries
  • Sportsman's saw
  • Survival bag (shelter)
  • Whistle
  • Pouch with money (should include coins)
  • Medicine (include Rx and Rx glasses)
  • Dry pet food (don't forget pet's Rx)
  • Pad and Pencil (useful for leaving notes)
  • Large garbages bag
  • Duct tape (repair poncho, shelter, plastic bags etc.)
  • Copies of identification
Hint: Save small samples from hotels, plane trips etc. to put towards kit.
