Birding Walks:

Surrey Parks birding walks take place monthly from September to May at a different location each month. Each walk is FREE and is geared towards the beginner to intermediate birder.

Self-Guided Walks

Blackie Spit Park has interpretive signage throughout the park that makes for a terrific self-guided walk.  Learn about the history and ecological significance of the area while enjoying the beautiful ocean views and wildlife this park has to offer.  Blackie Spit Park is located at the foot of McBride Avenue at Crescent Beach.

Green Timbers Urban Forest Park is a terrific destination for a nature walk. The Salal Trail is a self-guided walk that begins at the SW corner of the park at 100th Ave. and 148 St.  The kiosk at the trail head holds brochures that provide interesting natural and cultural information for specific stops along the trail.

Redwood Park has a magnificent self-guided walk through exotic and native trees and towering groves.  The kiosk at the trailhead holds brochures that have a numbered map highlighting 24 trees as well as a pdf link to the brochure below.  Redwood Park is located on 20 Avenue between 176 Street and 180 Street.

Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest has a self-guided interpretive walk highlighting some of the features that make Sunnyside a unique urban oasis.  The kiosk in the main parking lot holds brochures to help guide you on your walk.  Sunnyside Acres is located at 24 Avenue between 144 Street and 148 Street.
