Mud Bay Park opened in the fall of 2002. The park offers beautiful shoreline views and great bird watching during the migratory season. As with Blackie Spit, which is located across the bay, the tidal marshes and eelgrass beds along the shoreline represent an important stop for migrating and wintering waterfowl and shorebirds. Fall migrants start arriving in late August and September. Spring migrants start leaving in mid-March and are generally gone by the end of May.
