(Kindergarten)
Dig, plant, discover! Through song, games, and indoor and outdoor seasonal activities, learn about growing heritage vegetables and fruit. Tour the root cellar, garden, orchard, pole barn, and farmhouse kitchen.

- Kindi Picnic
(Kindergarten)
Bring a picnic and celebrate the end of the school year with a tour of this special heritage site. Children will try traditional chores, play old-time games, and enjoy a cool summer treat as they hand-churn ice cream.

- Farm Kids
(Gr 1–3)
Children are invited to dress up in pioneer costumes to explore 1890s rural life from a child’s point of view. Using role play and Teaching Collection objects, students experience farm chores, early pastimes and school lessons in a farmhouse setting.

- Woodlands & Waterways
(Gr 4–6)
Tidal charts, sea shells and magnifying glasses are some of the tools students will use in the field to explore the woodlands of Elgin Heritage Park and the waterways of the Nicomekl River. Students identify environmental habitats and birds of prey along the shoreline.

- Immigrant Traditions & Culture

Explore the daily life and work of Scottish and Chinese settlers on a farm at the beginning of the 20th century. Through role play and Teaching Collection objects, students experience the cultural traditions of immigrants, and discover how economy and technology influenced farm life in early Canadian society.

- Heritage Christmas

Step back in time and experience the delights of an old-fashioned Christmas. Students explore the festively decorated farmhouse, learn about pioneer Christmas traditions, and make a Christmas cracker, toy or gift bag to take home.

- Guided Discovery Tour

Explore how early settlers lived on farms in Surrey from 1890–1910. Tour the Victorian farmhouse and pole barn while costumed guides lead students in an informative discussion with Discovery Sheets.
