Weddings within Parks

There are no fees charged nor bookings required for holding a wedding ceremony in a City park. However, residents are cautioned that public park space can not be reserved for private functions, only for authorized community events. Consequently, there may be another community event occuring simultaneously, especially in August. If you would like to find out what is planned in your selected park, please the City a few weeks before your wedding at 604-501-5050.

Unfortunately, there are a few parks that cannot be used for this purpose. Examples include Blackie Spit (as it contains a large environmentally sensitive area) or Darts Hill Garden Park, which has a number of rare and unusual plants that are highly protected. It is always a good practice to check with the City before planning a ceremony or photo shoot timeline.

Bear Creek Park

We have established an area within  Bear Creek park, complete with small chapel. We do not book the park for weddings, the gardens area and chapel are always first-come, first-served. There may be other events going on in the park on that day that could make it quite a busy place to be, so checking with us is a good idea prior to your wedding. We ask that wedding groups keep the number of people to less than 100 to reduce damage to the gardens and to allow others to enjoy the space on that day as well. There may be a 10'x10' pop-up type tent for shelter, but no other structures are permitted. Also, we prefer that the number of chairs be kept to a minimum, with seating for only those who require it (most attendees standing for the ceremony) in order to reduce the damage to the grass from chair legs. As the turf is often damp and the soil soft, guests should wear appropriate footwear

Fleetwood  Park Gardens

Another great location, especially for wedding photos is the beautiful gardens in Fleetwood Park.

Surrey Arts Centre

Looking for a unique place to hold your event? The Surrey Arts Centre  offers a variety of spaces and services to help you host your event with style and imagination. Whether it be a cultural event or performance, a wedding reception, or a corporate function, the Surrey Arts Centre  could be the ideal setting for an exceptional event experience.

Historic Stewart Farm

Historic Stewart Farm’s beautifully restored Victorian farmhouse and outbuildings sit like a jewel in the middle of Elgin Heritage Park, near Crescent Beach. The grounds provide a lovely backdrop for your wedding photos. The Farm is also a charming and unique location for small, country-style weddings and receptions.

Reservations for wedding photos are not taken. Grounds are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Wedding parties must not impede farm site programming during operational hours. Please call 604-592-6956 in advance to find out if there are any special events or public programs scheduled that would limit or restrict your photo plans.
