The City of Surrey hosted a successful second year of the Flavours of Surrey. Members of the Agricultural Advisory Committee along with city councillors, guest chefs, entertainers and over 400 hundred visitors enjoyed an afternoon of fun, food and festivities celebrating Surrey’s Agricultural community.
“This event brings together local agriculture, local businesses and the public in an interactive and fun environment to promote awareness about the importance of agriculture in Surrey,” said Councillor Martin who greeted visitors.
The food sampling, with a focus on locally grown agriculture, included an array of dishes along with beer and wine tasting. New this year was a farmers’ market where local farmers sold produce and local artisans featured their work.
Participants at this year’s festival were tapping their toes to the musical talents of “Wheat in the Barley”, Jennifer Kennedy, and the “Dixie Strollers.” Children especially enjoyed the baby chick and calf petting as well as interactive games about agriculture.
