Community Recreation Services

Community & Recreation is responsible for the operation of community pools, arenas, recreation centres and school partnerships throughout the City, while promoting active and healthy living. Community & Recreation also works with the community to develop affordable programming and social well being initiatives throughout the City particularly for seniors, children, youth and families. It is our goal to engage and empower participation through volunteerism and an inclusive approach towards reaching out to involve members of Surrey’s diverse community, including people with disabilities, in all service areas.

Active Living

The City of Surrey encourages residents and families to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle by offering both registered and drop-in programs across facilities in all six communities. Some of the services include personal training, weight room orientation, group fitness classes, specialized programs and maps for walking routes and trails.

The City of Surrey owns and operates five ice arenas that have eight sheets of ice. We offer public skating and registered programs such as Learn to Skate, learn to play hockey and a number of recreation hockey leagues for ages 6 to adult. All arenas have meeting room space for rent that vary in size.

The City of Surrey operates six major indoor pools and eight outdoor pools within Newton, Guildford, North Surrey, South Surrey and Fleetwood. We offer a variety of aquatic environments ranging from the waterslides and waves at the Newton Wave Pool to North Surrey’s smaller, more relaxed family atmosphere. Our newest and largest aquatic facilities, which include diving boards and waterslides, are Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre and Guildford Aquatics Centre.  Swimming lessons are offered at all our pools.

Community Recreation

The City of Surrey has a variety of programs for all ages. We encourage the residents of Surrey to participate in our programs and events as part of a healthy lifestyle promoting quality of life, family and community relationships.  Visit a recreation centre in your community!

Healthy Communities

The City of Surrey is one of the most diverse municipalities in Canada. The City aims to create communities that are both welcoming and inclusive for all people, through respecting and valuing individual differences and recognizing these layers of diversity as value.
