Welcome to the City of Surrey!

Congratulations on your new position, and welcome to the City of Surrey! You’ve picked a great place to work, and we’re glad to have you join us.

Before your first day of employment, please review and complete all sections of the Employee Onboarding:

  1. Review the City of Surrey Policies
  2. Complete, sign and return the required onboarding forms
  3. Send a copy of your Social Insurance Number
  4. Complete the Occupational Health & Safety online training (Safety Orientation)
  5. Learn about Surrey Excels
  6. Review the City of Surrey Values
  7. Read the General Information page for additional information related to your employment with the City of Surrey

Please note: completed onboarding forms must be returned to City of Surrey Human Resources prior to the expiry date noted in your job offer email.

1. Review the City of Surrey Policies

All employees of the City of Surrey are required to adhere and abide by key City Policies. The City policies referenced below are available for your review:

Optional Forms

The City of Surrey will deduct the standard income tax from your earnings. If you want more or less income tax taken, please complete, sign and return the following TD1 tax forms:

3. Send a copy of your Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Provide a copy of your SIN card, Confirmation of SIN letter, or other documentation showing your SIN to City of Surrey Human Resources.

4. Complete Online Safety Training

Safety is a key area of focus for the City of Surrey. All City employees are required to contribute to a safe and healthy workplace in an effort to minimize the potential for incidents, injuries and illnesses.

Employees must:

  • Perform his/her job tasks in accordance with established safe work procedures, practices, and Provincial, Federal and Environmental Regulations.
  • Be responsible for utilizing appropriate safety equipment at all times, seek supervisory clarification when needed.
  • Report any workplace incident, near miss occurrence, or possible unhealthy or unsafe condition, and/or unsafe behaviour.

Read the Occupational Health and Safety Policy and the Employee Safety Handbook for more information.​

Before your first day, you must complete the Safety Orientation training (20 minutes). Once you’ve successfully completed the training module, you will receive a certificate of completion. Save a copy of your certificates for your records.
