NOTE: Required forms, online training and documentation must be completed and returned to the City of Surrey Human Resources Department prior to your first day of employment.

2. Complete & Submit Forms to Human Resources

The City of Surrey will deduct the standard income tax from your earnings. If you want more or less income tax taken, please complete, sign and return the following TD1 tax forms:

Please return all required forms and documentation to the City of Surrey Human Resources Department by:

  • Uploading them using our secure system through the job offer link that we emailed to you; or,
  • Faxing them to 604-591-4517; or,
  • Mailing or physically returning them to City of Surrey HR, 13450-104th Ave., Surrey BC V3T 1V8.

The City of Surrey recommends that you do not email the required personal information using unsecured systems.

NOTE: You may not start work without the paperwork being received and accepted by Human Resources.

3. Complete Online Safety Training

Safety is a key area of focus for the City of Surrey and Surrey Fire Service. All employees are required to contribute to a safe and healthy workplace in an effort to minimize the potential for incidents, injuries and illnesses.

Employees must:

  • Perform his/her job tasks in accordance with established safe work procedures, practices, and Provincial, Federal and Environmental Regulations.
  • Be responsible for utilizing appropriate safety equipment at all times, seek supervisory clarification when needed.
  • Report any workplace incident, near miss occurrence, or possible unhealthy or unsafe condition, and/or unsafe behaviour.

Read the Occupational Health and Safety Policy and the Employee Safety Handbook for more information.​

Before your first day, you must complete the Safety Orientation training (40 minutes). Once you’ve successfully completed the training module, you will receive a certificate of completion. Save a copy of your certificates for your records.

Login Information:

  • Set up your username to create your online training account. To set up a new account select "If your Username is not in our system, click here". Your default password is "Future"
  • Once you’ve logged into your account, change your password and begin the online training. Please note: your online training account login is different than the one you used to apply for your job through the City of Surrey’s careers site.

In order to view the online orientation, you'll need the following:

4. Send a copy of your Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Provide a copy of your SIN card, Confirmation of SIN letter, or other documentation showing your SIN to City of Surrey Human Resources.
