The Liquid Waste Management Plan (LWMP) is a strategy to help protect the environment while managing the increasing amounts of liquid waste produced by our population. Metro Vancouver in conjunction with its member municipalities and residents developed a plan to deal with point source pollutants, such as sewer outfall/overflows, as well as non-point source pollutants, such as possible runoff from urban roadways. Surrey is actively pursuing the requirements outlined in the LWMP by managing point source and non-point source pollutants and undertaking Integrated Stormwater Management Plans (ISMP).
