Department Overview & Structure

Surrey Public Library is an organization separately incorporated under the Provincial Library Act. It is governed by the Surrey Public Library Board, which consists of several residents appointed by the City of Surrey Council, along with one Council designate.

The Library Board appoints the Chief Librarian, who directs and oversees the operation of the Library and ensures the delivery of excellent yet cost efficient customer services including materials collection, readers advisory, reference queries, and programs to people of all ages and cultures.

The Chief Librarian is also a member of the Senior Management team in the City of Surrey, which provides the majority of the funding to the Library.

The Library is a Registered Charity. For more information on giving to the library contact Cyndy Hill at or 604-598-7307.
