To develop land use plans, we undertake a comprehensive community planning process. This includes opportunities to engage with residents and stakeholders, including landowners, community groups and development interests.

Newton Town Centre

Newton Town Centre is a designated core urban area within the Official Community Plan, and the future south terminus for the Surrey-Newton-Guildford (SNG) Light Rail Transit (LRT) line.

A new plan for this area is being developed to guide growth in advance of the light rail along King George Boulevard.

Approved Land Use Plans have been developed through community consultation and endorsed by Council. These plans are used to guide current development across the City.

East Newton South Largely built out, this plan designates land uses for a large (195 ha) residential neighbourhood in southeast Newton. December 1997
East Panorama Ridge Business park and industrial land use plan for approximately 15.3 ha of lands in East Panorama Ridge, south of Highway 10. February 2002
South Newton
South Newton A land use plan for a large (485 hectare) portion of south Newton, east of King George Boulevard and north of Highway 10. The area includes the watersheds of Archibald and Hyland Creeks. September 2004
West Newton
Newton Cultural Commercial District A strategy for the development of a commercial district in West Newton that is focused around a distinctive South Asian theme. July 2012
West Newton / Highway 10 Largely built out, this plan designates land uses for a residential corridor along the northern boundary of Hwy 10,  west of King Geogre Boulevard. July 2004
West Newton North Largely built out, this plan designates residential land uses for a 43 hectare neighbourhood in east Newton, north of 64 Avenue. July 1996
West Newton South Completely built out, this plan designates residential land uses for a 30 hectare neighbourhood in east Newton, south of 64 Avenue. July 1995
