Cemeteries in Surrey

The City of Surrey is home to a number of cemeteries. Each cemetery operation is required to keep permanent records of those who are interred in their cemetery. Municipalities are not responsible for all burial records in their geographic area, only those in the cemeteries owned and operated by them. You will need to contact each cemetery to determine if a loved one is interred in that cemetery.

Surrey Centre Cemetery Project

This project is about Surrey Centre Cemetery. City Staff, in collaboration with a Cemetery design consultant has developed two conceptual design options that illustrate opportunities for utilization of the remaining available lands for a variety of interment and memorialization services.
The project objectives are to:

  • Preserve and enhance the existing character and heritage value of Surrey Centre Cemetery and it’s context;
  • Increase the range of interment and memorialization options to better serve Surrey’s diverse population;
  • Create a network of walking paths throughout the cemetery, and
  • Create a cemetery that functions efficiently and serves the needs of the community.

A public open house was held on January 21 to give information on the project and gather feedback. We are still collecting feedback on the options presented. To give your feedback, please use the form below.
Full features, illustrations and photos can be seen in this PDF document.

Option 1 features

  • New cemetery driveway with central vehicle turnaround and gathering space;
