Empower Surrey
Parent resources to keep kids out of gangs
Enhancing the impact of the Surrey Anti-Gang Family Empowerment (SAFE) Program, Empower Surrey is dedicated to helping parents, caregivers and other trusted adults build protective factors among Surrey children and youth to reduce their susceptibility for gang involvement. The website features information of the unique Surrey gang landscape, how to identify and address risk factors, tips and tools to start early conversations with children and youth, and much more.
Empower Surrey Parent Workshops
Keep kids safe from gangs
The Community Safety team hosted another set of the Empower Surrey Parent Workshops this Fall 2023. The workshops aimed to provide parents tips and tools to recognize and respond to warning signs for gang involvement as well as build protective factors that minimize their young person’s susceptibility for recruitment. Workshops are supported by Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) BC, Surrey RCMP Gang Enforcement Unit, Stop Exploiting Youth workers, Clinical Counsellors from the Surrey Anti-Gang Family Empowerment (SAFE) Program and Surrey School District 36.

Project IRIS (Integrated Resources for Investigations and Safety) is a camera registry that records the location of cameras owned by businesses and residents in Surrey. This video camera registry initiative is a partnership between the City of Surrey, Surrey RCMP, businesses, and the community.
