English Language Courses (ESL)

Settle into your new community quickly by learning English. Speaking, reading and writing English is a key part of finding work, building new friendships and getting to know your new community. 

Conversation classes

FREE English Conversation Program

This program is designed for men and women to practice their English in a comfortable environment while they learn about Canadian culture, meet others from around the world and share their experiences.

This is not a structured English class and some knowledge of English is required. The class is recommended for people who have taken an English as Second Language (ESL) class before.

ELSA programs

The ELSA program offers basic English classes to adult newcomers. The courses are funded by the government and free to students. The following organizations in Surrey offer free ELSA classes.

The LINC Program provides free French and English language courses to adult permanent residents. Delivered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
