Call for Personal Treasures
Did you move to Canada from another country?
We would like to borrow items people brought with them to Canada or that made them feel especially Canadian when they arrived, for display in two new exhibits running Spring through Summer 2017.
With Canada 150 upon us, the Historic Stewart Farm and the Surrey Museum are preparing for these exhibits with a call for personal treasures to be showcased. Given the diversity of the country, we hope to collect items from residents who immigrated to Canada from other countries.
The Historic Stewart Farm is collecting items that made people feel especially Canadian when they arrived in Canada. Curator Jerrilin Spence emphasizes that anything with significance to an individual is appropriate.
Canada 150: What We Bring
The Surrey Museum in Cloverdale will profile the things that people brought with them to Canada when they immigrated from other countries. “When you faced a choice of what you could bring, and what you had to leave behind, what did you choose to bring?” asks Curator of Exhibits, Colleen Sharpe.
