Join the fun and learning at the 11th Annual Surrey Kids Conference, a free collaborative, creative and inclusive celebration for children ages 6–12. Children will learn everything from how to manage stress and make healthy lifestyle choices, to the fundamentals of breakdancing, volleyball and human rights. 

Preteen Portion: Friday, November 17 at 4:30pm to 8:30pm 

The following workshops are for kids ages 9 to 12. Register online using course code 4566535 for both workshops or call 604-501-5100.

Break to the Beat Workshop 

Presented by Edmar Reyes, kids will learn some of the fundamentals of the break dancing and get a chance to be creative and express themselves by creating their own style and movements. 

Water Safety & First Aid Workshop 

Learn how to have fun and stay safe in and around the water! Also, learn from our Aquatic Leadership & First-Aid (ALFA) team on what to do if you see someone who needs help.

“Sweet Enough Already” Workshop

This workshop helps kids understand the amount of sugar in snacks and drinks, including those that are promoted as “healthy”. DiverseCITY Community Resource Society will also teach kids how to prepare healthy snacks with low sugar in a hands-on activity.

Mini & Atomic Volleyball Workshop

Get active with Volleyball BC! This session will focus on basic volleyball skills in a fun environment. All skill levels are welcome and this session is co-ed. Mini Volleyball is for ages 6 to 8 years and Atomic Volleyball is for kids ages 9 to12 years.

"Play It Fair! Fishing for Rights and Responsibilities” Workshop 

Presented by Equitas, Fishing for Rights and Responsibilities is an interactive and experiential workshop that introduces kids to the importance of respecting human rights and responsibilities. The workshop is followed by a debrief activity where children share their ideas and make links to their real life experiences. At the end of the workshop, children will make a button of the rights to take home.

Yoga For Mind & Body Fitness Workshop

Yoga Therapist Reema Kohli will teach kids how to manage stress, build concentration and improve athletic performance through breathing, meditation and yoga poses. Kids who start yoga practice at early age have access to distinct advantages as they grow up and move through life.

"LIVE 5210 in Action" Workshop 

Join our City of Surrey MYzone and Health Promotion staff as we explore the four healthy living guidelines of LIVE 5210. The focus of this workshop will be exploring healthy eating, physical movement and healthy lifestyle choices in a fun and interactive way.
