Date change: event has been rescheduled to February 10.

Join us as we visit artist George Rahi in his studio in Vancouver. See how George creates gamelan musical instruments out of recycled materials. Make some music in our group jam session. No previous music or art skills required. If you are unfamiliar with this genre of music, check out George’s band Gamelan Bike Bike.

This trip will help inspire our next community art project. Our Community Art Planning Team in City Centre is exploring how to create their own musical instruments and hold flash mob-style music events. This team is a group of youth and young adults that works together to create different art projects. New members are always welcome to join.

This is free event open to ages of 15-30. No art skills required. We will be starting and ending our trip at Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre. For details and registration, contact Edward Westerhuis at community@surrey.ca or by phone 604-591-4194.
