SAG 1990, Liane Davison

This exhibition centered on the first explorations of the unmapped areas of BC by Captains Vancouver, Galiano and Valdes, in 1792. The exhibit asks questions about the authorship and authenticity of written and oral histories. Williams' intention in this installation is to suggest multiple truths and perceptions about Desolation Sound in order to challenge the viewers' experience of history and its constructions. The voices of the explorers (through documents), the First Nations People and the artist are represented in this work.
