GLASS, Pam

As a mother of four and a grandmother of nine, I have always had a passion for education. Being a parent prepared me for being a teacher. That experience and my time serving as an assistant to the Premier and Members of Parliament prepared me for local government and the Board of Education.

I am proud to have served on the Surrey Board of Education for the past nine years. During this last term, the Board has faced many challenges that come with being the largest and fastest growing School District in British Columbia. But we have seen many accomplishments over those years, as well. Our success came from the high degree of cooperation among board members. Throughout this time, we have continuously put the needs of the students in the classroom ahead of any other interest.

In light of this cooperation, four of my trustee colleagues and I have decided to run for re-election under the “Surrey First Education” banner. This is a non-partisan electoral organization in association with the Surrey First team at Surrey City Hall represented by Mayor Dianne Watts and seven current Councillors.

Other past accomplishments:

  • Served six years as a citizenship judge
  • Board member of the Pacific National Exhibition
  • Director of the United Way
  • Trustee with the BC Sports Hall of Fame
  • Member of the Parole Board

I live in South Surrey with my husband Cecil. Next year will be our sixtieth wedding anniversary.
