Youth Week is a full week of events and activities for youth. May 1-7 is internationally recognised as a week dedicated to acknowledging, celebrating and advocating for youth empowerment, achievement and involvement throughout the year. 

Interested in organizing a youth week event? Each recreation centre has Youth Engagement Program staff teams dedicated to supporting youth in organizing an event, group, project or initiative. Contact youth@surrey.ca for more information.

Voices for Change: Youth Inclusion Art Camp
Time: 6:00pm-9:00pm
Location: Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre, 13458 107A Avenue
Be heard, speak out! Join artist Kat Thorsen and viaSport BC for a fun, engaging art session designed to spark conversation around what inclusion means to you. Learn how creative expression can help you tell your story, and talk about what you want in youth programming.

Girls Night (Preteens)
Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm
Location: Guildford Recreation Centre, 15105 105 Avenue
This is a night full of energy and laughter! It's a chance for girls to socialize and have fun while playing games, dancing, crafting, baking and much more.

Breakdance Party
Time: 
7:00pm-9:00pm
Location: Kwantlen Polytechnic University - Gymnasium (Cedar Building), 12666 72 Avenue
Show off your dance moves during a mini dance battle.  End the night with prizes and snacks.

Art Together
Time: 7:00pm-9:00pm
Location: Surrey Arts Centre, 13750 88th Avenue
Make art and share your ideas! If you’re a young person, the Gallery wants your help planning upcoming projects, programs, and events. This is a unique opportunity to design the type of art activities you envision, and to create do-it-together art projects with mentoring artists.

Outdoor Ball Hockey

Pixel Post It
Time: 3:30pm-9:00pm
Location: Guildford Library, 15105 105 Avenue
Join us for a Post It Note Art Extravaganza. Sign up to compete as an individual or a team. Registered participants can come anytime between 3:30 and 9:00 to create their work of art. Art pieces must consist only of Post It Notes. Participants may decorate the Post It Notes with markers, pens, pencils, etc.
Post It Notes and Sharpies in a variety of colours will be available. Participants may bring and use their own.
Voting will be between May 4 and May 7. The art piece with the most votes will win a $25 Starbucks Gift Card. Runner Up will win a $10 Starbucks Gift Card.

Skate Jam & Gamers Challenge

Enjoy a fun and competive skateboard jam that will feature music and lots of prizes in the skate park.  We will also be having a huge Wii-U tournament that will feature super smash brothers and other fun filled games.  All levels welcome.

After Hours Movie Night

Super Smash Tournament

Surrey Youth Showcase
Time: 11:00am-8:30pm
Location: Guildford Recreation Centre, 15105 105 Avenue
The Surrey Youth Showcase kicks off Youth Week with one of the largest FREE youth events of the year. Participate in the basketball tournament or street dance battle, watch the hip hop showcase, get henna or an airbrush tattoo, make a button, snap a photo at the booth, eat popcorn and chocolate, play games and win prizes.

Skate Park Clean Up & Kick Off BBQ Party

Kick off the Skate Park season by getting your park up and running. Sweep, paint, skate, eat, repeat.
