Youth Week is a full week of events and activities for youth. May 1-7 is internationally recognised as a week dedicated to acknowledging, celebrating and advocating for youth empowerment, achievement and involvement throughout the year. 

Interested in organizing a youth week event? Each recreation centre has Youth Engagement Program staff teams dedicated to supporting youth in organizing an event, group, project or initiative. Contact youth@surrey.ca for more information.

Surrey Youth Showcase
Time: 10:00am-11:30pm
Location: Guildford Recreation Centre, 15105 105 Avenue
#SYS2016 kicks off Youth Week with one of the largest FREE youth events of the year. Watch the basketball tournaments or breakdance battle, attend the pool party, get a henna or airbrush tattoo, make a button, snap a photo at the booth, eat popcorn and chocolate, play games and receive prizes. At the end of the day, chill at the pool party with free food, a DJ and cool lights.

Board Games Bonanza

Location: Historic Stewart Farm, 13723 Crescent Road
Settlers, Ticket to Ride or Munchkins - bring your BFF and your favourite board game to the Historic Stewart Farm for a fun afternoon. We’ll supply sweet treats, Wi-Fi and lemonade, too.

Come by to make your own smoothie concoction and enjoy some movie time with friends.

Teen Spa DIY
Time: 7:00-8:30pm
Location: Guilford Library
Parents and youth come together and bond over making some sweet spa products like lip balm and bath salts! Come celebrate Mother's Day by making spa stuff for your Mom, or with your Mom or other important person in your life. For more info, contact Anneka Homfeld at 604-592-7020.

Youth Education and Job Fair

Summer is fast approaching and there are many opportunities available for young adults. Make the most out of your time to find a job, take a skills training course, or enroll in a workshop. DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society connects employers and educators who are looking for skilled workers eager to gain the tools to join the Canadian work experience.

Girls Night Out
Time:
5:00-8:00pm
Location: Newton Seniors Centre, 13775 70 Avenue 
Spa night for girls between 10-15 years of age. Nail art, facial masks, and cooking spa treats.

Just for Girls Night
Time: 5:30-7:30pm
Location: Cloverdale Recreation Centre, 6188 176 Street
Spa night and fruit smoothies. The evening will inlcude a light fitness class, fresh fruit smoothies and nail art.

Enjoy a delicious FREE BBQ lunch outside at Clayton Heights Secondary. We will have music and tons of games to play.

Bowling Night
Time: 4:00-7:00pm
Location: Bridgeview Community Centre, 11475 126A Street
Join the Bridgeview Youth Engagement Program (YEP) staff for a trip to the bowling alley. This event requires pre-registration with the community centre.

Bubble Soccer 
Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Location: Guilford Recreation Centre, 15105 105 Avenue
Enjoy a night of soccer with a twist - each player is surrounded by a giant bubble! Try to score while bouncing, rolling, bumping, and crashing into other players. Space is limited, so contact Saskia to register.

Surrey Steps Up
Time: 6:00-9:30pm
Location: City Hall, 13450 104 Avenue
Big or small ideas, by yourself or with a group, in your school or in your neighbourhood, we know youth across Surrey are doing great things. Surrey Steps Up is an annual showcase of the positive work of youth in our community, and an opportunity to celebrate your accomplishments. This is a great opportunity to share your work and meet other young people making a difference.

Iron Chef Night
Time: 6:00-9:00pm
Location: Fleetwood Recreation Centre, 15996 84 Avenue
Think you have what it takes to blow away the taste buds of your family and friends? Come prove it by joining a team and participating in our 2nd annual Iron Chef Night. An assortment of ingredients will be provided to put you to the test of creating a culinary dish judged by a panel of youth judges. Skate Tournament and BMX Jam

This jam is youth focused, but there will be a bracket for 19+. Youth will have first pick of the prizes. BMXers will do a bowl jam.

Movie in the Park

Location: Surrey Nature Centre, 14225 Green Timbers Way
Come join the Surrey Youth Stewardship Squad for a social evening and movie in the park.

Pre-teen Dance - Mustache Bash
Time:
7:00-9:30pm
Location: Don Christian Recreation Centre, 6220 184 Street
Buy your tickets early for only $5.00 and join us for a mustache bash.

FGC Smash Brothers Tournament
Time: 7:00-10:00pm
Location: Fleetwood Recreation Centre, 15996 84 Avenue
Calling all gamers to join us for the 2nd gaming tournament. The Fleetwood Gamers' Club (FGC) is for the gamers, owned by the gamers, and run by the gamers. It is a place for gamers to unite and socialize, so come and game with us. Contact Katrina at kdivincenzo@surrey.ca for more information.

InFlux

Location: Surrey Art Gallery, 13750 88 Avenue in Bear Creek Park 
Join us as the Gallery transforms into a giant art party, featuring an eclectic mix of hands-on artmaking and live performances. Come build giant origami, weave traditional cedar, and learn some new hip-hop dance moves. Free event.
