Request Traffic Camera Video Footage

The request system will be unavailable July 29, 2019 from 4:30pm until the morning of July 30, 2019. We are making a change to permit online payment and for a more user friendly experience. The new system will be available July 30, 2019.

To request a copy of video footage that might have been recorded by one of Surrey’s traffic cameras:

  • Complete the submission form below.
  • You will be invoiced the video search fee of $210.00 plus tax.
  • We will conduct a search for your requested video footage after the fee has been paid.
  • We will respond with the outcome of our search, typically within five business days. If we find video footage that we can disclose*, we will email you a secure hyperlink to retrieve the video file(s). The video footage provided generally captures a short period before and after the event.

We cannot fulfill requests for video footage from cameras on Provincial highways (e.g. Highway 10, Highway 15, Highway 17, Highway 99, etc.) as the Province does not record or disclose traffic camera video footage.

Service Fee Changes

On March 4, 2019, we changed the way we charge for traffic camera footage, reducing the price from $360.00 for each successful search, to a $210.00 flat fee for everyone who requests a search, regardless of what was caught on camera.

The new, reduced video search fee of $210.00 plus tax will cover the cost of the service for each individual customer request. All customers will be required to pay the fee before staff conduct a search for the video footage.

Archived Traffic Camera Images

We are also providing a new tool to help customers determine ahead of time if our traffic cameras may have recorded video of interest. Archived images for the last 30 days from our traffic cameras are now available. See a map of our traffic camera locations.

*We adhere to the requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act with respect to disclosing personally identifiable information. You can authorize the City of Surrey to release traffic camera video footage that may have recorded your image. You can do this by submitting the Authorization for Release Form to traffic@surrey.ca

If you have any questions or concerns regarding video footage requests, please email traffic@surrey.ca.
