Youth Recreation Services

Sign up for your free annual Youth Membership at any recreation centre. Get access to drop-in activities and our youth lounges where you can play video games, foosball, air hockey, gym activities, sports equipment, pool tables and more!

Major Youth Events

Every year the City of Surrey hosts major events just for youth. From getting involved with your community with Surrey Steps Up to developing your music with Band-Aid to learning about becoming a leader in your community at the Leadership Action Conference, we've got something for everyone.

Youth Leadership

From joining the Surrey Youth Council, to planning events with the Youth Events Squad or getting in touch with nature with the Surrey Youth Stewardship Squad, there is a group or council for just about everyone.

If you're interested in nature, arts, leadership, event planning, community service or having your voice heard, join one of our councils or groups today!

Surrey Leadership Youth Council

Do you have thoughts, opinions and ideas about your community? Consider joining the Surrey Leadership Youth Council (SLYC), a group of youth who help youth speak up and have their voices heard with the support of the City of Surrey. The SLYC hosts the Youth Speak Up forum in October every year.

Chuck Bailey Surrey Leadership Youth Council

Live, work, and/or go to school in the Whalley/City Centre Community? Interested in discussing topics important to you and your community?

The Chuck Bailey Surrey Leadership Youth Council (SLYC) is looking for youth who want to work together to discuss topics affecting the Whalley/City Centre community and advocate to have Surrey youth’s voices heard.

  • When: Fridays 4:30pm to 6:30pm
  • Where: Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre (13458 107a Ave, Surrey, BC V3T 0G4)
  • Benefits: Pizza, volunteer hours, and a fun group of youth who want to make a difference

Guildford Youth Advisory Group

Want to build your leadership skills by spending your Friday nights with the coolest youth and youth leader in town? Advocate for Guildford Youth by sharing your ideas and thoughts and brainstorming as a group. Project examples can be sport tournaments, art galleries, movie nights – you name it!

  • When: Every other Friday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm
  • Where: Guildford Recreation Centre (15105 105 Ave, Surrey, BC V3R 7G8)
  • Benefits: Snacks, volunteer hours, and a fun group of youth who want to make a difference

Youth Events Squad

Join our Youth Events Squad (YES) team to help plan and execute five of the City of Surrey’s biggest youth events, including the Surrey Youth Showcase event series and Band-Aid!

We meet every other Friday from 4:45 to 6:15pm at the City Centre Library. You must be between the ages of 14 to 21, and are welcome to join YES or contribute to meetings about specific events.

Surrey Youth Stewardship Squad

The Surrey Youth Stewardship Squad (SYSS) combines environmental stewardship and leadership in Surrey's unique urban forest. SYSS enhances our parks through hands-on restoration, education at community events, and other unique projects.

Youth Engagement Project Teams

Got an idea for a project or an event, but need some help or support to make it happen? Our Youth Engagement Project Teams (YEP) want to work with you.

Tell us what you want to see in your city and we will support you in making it happen.

If you are a youth, service provider, school, agency or parent and are interested in connecting with the YEP team in your area, email youth@surrey.ca or contact your local recreation centre.
