Surrey Nature Centre at Green Timbers

Visit the Surrey Nature Centre in Green Timbers to discover nature in the city!

The Sky Room drop-in space at the Surrey Nature Centre will be closed Tuesday, July 9, and will reopen on Wednesday, July 10. Story time will still be held on Tuesday at 10:30, it will be outdoors. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

Nestled beside Green Timbers Urban Forest, the Surrey Nature Centre is a place for kids and adults to explore nature right here in Surrey. Check out the various outdoor and indoor drop-in activities, spend time in our Exploration Room and sign up for nature programs. If you're a teacher, bring your classroom to experience a hands-on and updated curriculum-linked program.

Parking Lot Upgrades

We are expanding our plaza and adding more parking at the Surrey Nature Centre. There will be minor disruptions to our parking facilities while this work is being carried out. See the design plan.

Drop-in Activities

There's more to explore with these free, drop-in activities:

Daily activities

  • Discovery backpacks: borrow a backpack full of activities to make your visit extra fun.
  • Fishing rod loans: drop by during opening hours to borrow a fishing rod (for free!) and try your hand fishing at Green Timbers Lake.
  • Nature Story Times: held daily at 10:30am in the Sky Room.

Drop-in events

  • Discovery Days: held on every Surrey School District Pro-D day.
  • Nature walks: held the third Saturday of each month. Join us for a special Father's Day walk on Sunday, June 16 (10am for all ages; 1pm for ages 8+)

Nature Programs

Give your child an opportunity to make new friends and have fun outside with our day camps, birthday parties, Nature Preschool, and other early years programs. Daycares and groups can book a private Explore Program for a memorable nature experience together.

School Programs and Teacher Workshops

Teachers, complement your classroom teaching by bringing your class on one of our elementary school programs or preschool field trips, and build your skills and confidence teaching outdoors by attending a Pro-D day workshop.
