Love Where You Live for Schools
Help clean up your neighbourhood or take part in other projects to make it more beautiful! There are many ways to show you love where you live and learn!
Elementary School Park Cleanup
Our School Park Cleanup program (previously named Lend a Hand) is back!
Organize your class to clean up your local parks. We will provide activity resources, an instructional video, a volunteer hours log, litter pickers and bags.
At the end of the school year, your class will be entered to win a pizza party and an Indigo gift card! Together, we can make a difference and build a greener, healthier, and safer community. Watch this space for more information.
Neighbourhood Cleanup (High Schools)
Organize a litter pickup around your school, and we can provide support with litter pickers, large item removal and other tools.
Class Activity: Love Where You Live Art Wrap
Why do you love where you live? Share why you love where you live through art, and you’ll have the chance to help beautify a utility kiosk in your school’s neighbourhood. As a classroom activity, have students draw, color, or paint why you love where you live. Think about:
- What are your favorite places in your neighborhood?
- What are your favorite memories in these places?
- How do you help take care of your neighborhood?
- What makes you proud of your neighborhood?
Teachers can send artwork to email@example.com to be considered use in wrapping a kiosk near your school. This opportunity is based on availability of funding, appropriateness of artwork, and availability of appropriate locations for wrapping.
Contact Lovewhereyoulive@surrey.ca to find out if we are still accepting submissions from schools.
Class Activity: Love Where You Live Photo Contest
Have you ever stopped to observe all the different pieces that make your neighborhood special? As part of a class exercise, take some photos and submit them to Love Where You Live, and win a pizza party for your class.
Take a walk around your neighborhood and try to capture some of your favorite parts of the neighborhood through pictures. Teachers can email pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org to be entered to win a class pizza party!
Make sure to include:
- name of your school

All entries from classrooms with a minimum of 15 photos will be entered into a contest for a class pizza party. Draws will take place on May 1 and October 1. See full contest rules for further details, and email email@example.com if you have any questions.
