Intercultural Family Intervention Program
Find out how the Intercultural Family Intervention Program can help at-risk youth & their families.
Designed for families whose youth are struggling.
The Intercultural Family Intervention Program involves outreach workers meeting with immigrant and refugee families, primarily in the Newton area, whose youth are struggling with negative behaviours or showing signs of gang involvement.
Families who join the program undertake a needs assessment and are referred to existing programs and services. Counselling is provided in multiple languages, using a culturally sensitive and language specific team, with the goal to increase family connections.
This program is delivered by the Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS).
Visits can take place at the individual’s home and supports are also available outside of school/business hours.
