The Plan for the Social Well-Being of Surrey Residents (shortened as the Social Plan) was adopted by Council in February 2006 to strategically direct the City’s actions on social issues in Surrey. 

Social Issue Priorities

In the plan, 5 social issue areas were identified as priorities:

  • Children and Youth
  • Community Development and Diversity
  • Crime & Public Safety
  • Housing and Homelessness
  • Substance Abuse and Addictions

Social Plan Annual Reports

Since adopting the Social Plan in 2005-2006, the City of Surrey has acted on 89% of recommended actions, and continues to work with community stakeholders to identify and implement initiatives to met the Plan's goals.
