Park information

Edgewood Park provides space for all to connect through nature and play. The playground focuses on accessible play which includes a roller table, a universal spinner, a dish swing and wide slide. Many of these elements encourage co-operative play that engages one or multiple children. The multi-sports courts accommodate both basketball and hockey, and a table tennis setup is also nearby.

Enjoy the grassy field, walking loop, picnic areas, pollinator meadow, and wildlife corridor.

Pollinator Meadow

This feature is a pilot project drawing from the City’s new Biodiversity Design Guidelines to restore habitat for a variety of pollinators. Native, drought-tolerant plants were chosen that provide a wide range of food and cover for insects, birds and other wildlife. The meadow has received Greener Greenspace recognition from the Society of Organic Urban Land Care (SOUL) which recognizes the City’s commitment to ecological land care practices in caring for the space in a way that:

  • increases biodiversity values
  • supports plant and soil health
  • protects air and water quality
  • takes steps to minimize waste and energy consumption
  • avoids the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides

Biodiversity Corridor

Edgewood Park is part of Surrey's Green Infrastructure Network (GIN), the backbone of the City’s Biodiversity Conservation Strategy. The GIN is a network of interconnected green hubs and corridors that are essential to support the City's wildlife for the long-term.

Park History

Acquired in 1951, this 3.9 hectare (9.6 acres) park served as the location for the Sunnyside Saddle Club for many decades. As the neighbourhood grew, the park was redesigned to meet the needs of the growing community. After extensive community engagement, the transformed park opened to the public in July 2021.
