Surrey Civic Theatres facilities are currently closed and events and rentals at the Main Stage and Studio Theatre in the Surrey Arts Centre, and Centre Stage in City Hall have been cancelled until further notice. No new bookings for 2021 are being taken at this time. Pre-booked recording sessions are also available for community arts organizations.

This summer, get your fresh air theatre on! Surrey Civic Theatres is thrilled to present Summer POP! (Performances Outdoors in Parks)

Over the summer months, Surrey Civic Theatres has lined up a variety of performances and activities for people to enjoy in the great outdoors. Everything is dependent on COVID-19 restrictions. Keeping everyone safe is our priority. In the event we are unable to gather for these events safely, we will move select programming to virtual events.

POP! Glades Woodland Garden Stage Series

Join us in one of Surrey’s most picturesque parks for our Glade Woodland Gardens Stage Series. Over the summer there will be a variety of performances to enjoy: everything from foot-stomping Celtic music, to theatre productions for grown-ups and children!

There will be limited tickets available for each event (health orders permitting) and seating will be BYOCB (bring your own blanket or chair). Limited tickets. Tickets on sale now.

For each of the performance times for this show, there will be seven separate audience groups. These groups of up to 12 people will be in staggered increments of 15 minutes. For example, for the 6:00pm show the start times will be: 6:00pm, 6:15pm, 6:30pm, 6:45pm, 7:00pm, 7:15pm and .7:30pm. The performance is 65 minutes long.



Moving, Resting, Nesting – A Story-Walk

August 20, 21 & 22 | 10:00 am & 3:30pm| Bear Creek Park

An outdoor story experience designed for children ages 2 to 7.


POP! Self-Directed Activities – Various Parks

Immerse yourself in one of our POP! Self-Directed Activities. This part of our summer series is exactly as it sounds. Take yourself to the park and let the QR Codes guide you. It’s like a theatrical treasure hunt. POP! Self-directed Activities use QR codes in public parks and participants experience the activity at their own pace. There are three experiences to enjoy. Details on each Self-Directed Activity are listed below.


The Rainbow Girl | Hawthorne Rotary Park

July 12 - September 11

An interactive visual story for young children exploring colours, nature, and the art of rangoli. POP! Self-directed Activities use QR codes in public parks and participants experience the activity at their own pace.



What Did I Love? | Green Timbers Park

July 13 - September 12

A contemplative audio walk 



The Adventures of Himmat Kaur and Fateh Singh | Bear Creek Park

July 26 - September 30

An illustrated children’s story. Follow along in English or Punjabi.


Note that live presentations with audiences for this series will be possible only if gathering restrictions have been eased and all activities can take place in compliance with COVID-19 Public Health orders and guidelines. The Surrey Civic Theatres Digital Stage may provide alternative delivery of projects appropriate for a virtual platform in the event restrictions are still in place or health orders change.
