Business Name Registration

Power Tech Building.

The first step in incorporating or registering your business is to get the approval of your business name. To register your business name, use BC Registry Service to complete the process.

If you intend to incorporate, register a business, or register an extraprovincial company, your business must be registered with the Province of BC.

How to register a business

Go to Name Requests Online to submit your Name Approval Request electronically, for examination by the Name Reservation Unit, of the BC Registry Services. Access the service's online information and video demonstration to help you through the process.

Research name choices in the Province of BC's existing corporate names database

Assistance in registering a business

OneStop service delivery locations assist with some business start-up information. Once your business has been established, the OneStop locations can save you time. The locations assist you in deciding what programs to register for, and allow you to complete applications for different government and public agency programs.

Enter common data just once, and the program will help you fill out the forms completely and accurately, eliminating many errors that often lead to delays in the processing of your application.

Surrey Board of Trade Business Resource Centre also assists in business name approvals and business registration.

Contact our Economic Development Office at 604-591-4128 with any questions on registering your business name.
