Inter-Municipal Business Licence

The City of Surrey participates in two Inter-Municipal Business Licence (IMBL) programs: the Fraser Valley IMBL and the Metro-West IMBL.

Eligibility is limited to businesses, defined as trades contractors or other professionals (related to the construction industry) that provide a service or product other than from their fixed and permanent location.

An Inter-Municipal Business Licence allows businesses to operate in more than one municipality.

Fraser Valley IMBL Program

The cost of the IMBL is $250 and is in addition to your existing City of Surrey business licence. The IMBL is valid for the same term as your municipal business licence; in the City of Surrey, it is valid for 1 year from the date of application.

Applications should be submitted to the municipal business licensing office of your home municipality (where your business is presently located and licensed).

The participating municipalities are:

  • City of Abbotsford
  • City of Chilliwack
  • Corporation of Delta
  • District of Hope
  • District of Kent
  • City of Langley
  • Township of Langley
  • District of Maple Ridge
  • District of Mission
  • City of Pitt Meadows
