Works Yard - Artist-in-Residence Call

Works Yard - Artist-in-Residence Call

Artist Call for Expressions of Interest

The City of Surrey Public Art Program is inviting local professional artists, with experience working collaboratively with professionals and community members, to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for an Artist-in-Residence at the Surrey Main Works Yard, part-time, for a period of one year.

The Artist-in-Residence will have a two-phased opportunity working collaboratively with the Design Team, employees related to the Works Yard facility and Public Art staff.  In phase one, the artist will research the operations of the City Works Yard to inform a public art plan for the Works Yard and other City sides for projects relating to the Work Yard activities.  The outcome of this research will be a summary of findings and recommendations for public art projects to be realized in future years including an outline of proposed artist-in-residence activities, sites, strategies, form and themes.  In phase two, the artist-in-residence will complete one of the art plan initiatives informed by their research as a permanent public art work.  It is anticipated the Artist will engage Works Yard staff in the research and development of their concept, as well as in the processes of design, fabrication and installation, whenever possible.
