Request for Proposals
The City of Surrey (the “City”) is seeking an experienced Insurance Broker (the “Consultant”) capable of representing the City’s risk to the commercial insurance market and achieving favourable rates of insurance on a consistent basis.
The City of Surrey is committed to the principle that an independent brokers’ compensation for the placement of the City’s insurance be solely from the fees paid by the City. Brokers who receive contingent commissions or incentives based on volume, profitability of the book of business or any other funds, credits or rewards from any insurer, re-insurer, managing underwriter or wholesaler should disclose this in the RFP response. All commissions paid for placing business which is not part of the annual renewal program should be disclosed.
The City of Surrey, through good risk management and claims processes, established very favourable rates and wordings with underwriters. This combined with consulting services which will increase the City’s ability to effectively and efficiently manage the City’s financial exposure to risk.

If the City determines that an amendment is required to this RFP, the City Representative will issue a written addendum by posting it on the BC Bid Website at www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca (the “BC Bid Website”) and the City Website at www.surrey.ca (the “City Website”) that will form part of this RFP. No amendment of any kind to the RFP is effective unless it is posted in a formal written addendum on the City Website. Upon submitting a Proposal, Proponents will be deemed to have received notice of all addenda that are posted on the City Website.
