EllisDon Corporation has been awarded the Pre-Construction services for the Clayton Community Centre project and has been retained by the City of Surrey as the Construction Manager. The proposed Clayton Community Centre (CCC) will be the first facility within the City of Surrey to combine arts, recreation, library, and parks spaces. Some of the amenities include childcare facilities, visual arts studios, rehearsal hall, music studios, workshop, fitness centre, gymnasium, library, computer learning, silent study, multipurpose spaces, and social spaces for the community. The buildings steel and concrete structure will support a one-of-a-kind glue-laminated roof structure and will be at the leading edge of energy efficient design and construction by targeting Passive House Certification. The project scope includes work onsite and as well as required work offsite. A preliminary construction schedule for the project has been developed by EllisDon. The overall construction duration for the project is 24 months from the start of construction on site end of May 2018 to Occupancy end of May 2020.

EllisDon, on behalf of the Owner, invites Trade Contractor Pre-Qualification for the following categories related to the construction phase of the project:

  • Curtain Wall System & Glazed Assemblies
  • Steel studs, Gypsum & Acoustic Assemblies
  • Flooring
  • Painting
  • Elevators
  • Mechanical (inclusive of HVAC, Plumbing, Controls, and Fire Protection)
  • Electrical (inclusive of Power, Lighting, Fire Alarm, Security & Communications)

EllisDon Corporation will be using Subguard® on the Project. Subguard® is Zurich North America Insurance Companies’ Subcontractor Default Insurance Program. This is an insurance product that replaces Subcontractor bonding.As Subguard® is being used on the Project, Subcontractors will not be required to provide a performance and payment bond.  Subcontractors will instead be required to provide EllisDon with information about their company’s experience and financial capability to complete the Subcontract Work. The confidentiality of financial information submitted with respect to a Subguard® application will be respected. Having the required current Subguard® rating from EllisDon as noted herein will be a condition for further assessment and consideration of the Pre-Qualification Submission received from the Trade Contractor as part of this Pre-Qualification process. It is the Trade Contractor’s responsibility to have completed the online Subguard application (refer to Appendix “A” in the Pre-Qualification Documents) and have the required current Subguard® rating from EllisDon within one (1) week after the Pre-Qualification Closing deadline. EllisDon will remain available to address any questions or concerns.
