Arts Umbrella is back with another creative activity that will inspire kids of all ages to Be Moved!  Join our theatre instructors as they lead children through an 30 minute engaging theatre sports activity. Be Moved!

Found Poetry

Become a poet before you know it!  Participants will create poems with award winning children’s author Lori Sherritt-Fleming. Using nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs for inspiration, cut, paste and compose original poems on the spot! Take home your masterpiece or display it in the Poet’s Zone Gallery!  Fun for the whole family and suitable for all ages!

Step back in time to circa 1913 and visit a general store / post office. Make your own post card, have it stamped by the postmaster and mail it from the Maillardville Pioneers tent!  Sing along with the Voyageurs en français or in English!

Celebration of Culture

Come decorate popsicle sticks with what culture means to you and how you choose to celebrate it. During the festival, the popsicle sticks will be made into a mural called Celebration of Culture. After the festival, the mural will travel across the City of Surrey to promote conversation, sharing and celebrate our diverse city.

Giant Sandboxes are always a hit for children to explore building, destroying and generally mucking about! Bring your imaginations as the toys are ready for the picking.

Travel back in time and join the Historic Stewart Farm and Surrey Archives for hands-on heritage crafts & activities, historical moustache painting, fun fair games like Tug o’ War and Burlap Sack Racing, and a then and now photo matching game!

Identity Creation Courtyard

Celebrate Indigenous culture and heritage with us! Walk through the traditional longhouse arch created by Hummingbird Designs and into the courtyard inside the Surrey Arts Centre and make a button for the wall hanging created in partnership with the SD36 Bannock and Books program. There will be storytelling and a carving demonstration by Metis artist Patrick Calihou and special guest appearances by performer, David Bouchard.

Mobile Museum

Presented by Museum of Surrey

Children are encouraged to play, touch and explore this mobile exhibit, with a textile art display, upright looms and a chance to "yarn-bomb" sheep!  By the end of the festival, sheep will be a beautiful display of multi-colour madness!

Discover art in nature - come to our activity and get hands-on with cones, rocks, tree cookies and more to create a masterpiece that will change and grow over the course of the festival! This activity is part of Surrey’s Environmental Extravaganza– bring your passport to our tent on Saturday for your stamp.
