Surrey, BC The City of Surrey has been selected as one of British Columbia’s Top Employers for 2017. BC’s Top Employers is an annual competition that recognizes those leading their industry in offering exceptional places to work. Surrey was also recently recognized in separate category as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People.

“We are committed to employing innovative people with a passion for meaningfully contributing to our world-class city,” said Mayor Linda Hepner. “As an organization, we strive to create an environment that fosters this dynamic and appreciate the recognition.”

The City of Surrey was selected based on eight criteria and compared with similar organizations to determine which offers the most progressive programs. Highlights include:

  • The support of ongoing employee development through a variety of in-house training programs, including paid internships, apprenticeships and formal mentoring, as well as tuition support for external courses.
  • Its summer employment program, which, in combination with its apprenticeship and paid internship programs, makes it a major employer of the next generation of employees.

As one of the fastest growing cities in Canada, City of Surrey is a globally recognized leader in building vibrant, sustainable communities through technology and innovation. City of Surrey employees are talented innovators, inspired by meaningful work and the opportunity to drive our city—and their careers—forward.
