Surrey, BC – The City of Surrey will host its seventh annual Party for the Planet—BC’s largest Earth Day celebration—at Surrey City Hall Plaza on Saturday, April 22 from 10am–7pm. The Surrey signature event will feature a full roster of Canadian musical entertainment, plus special activations celebrating the 20th anniversary of the City’s Environmental Extravaganza and Canada’s 150th birthday.

Presented by TD, this year’s free festival includes performances by BC-born rising star Shawn Hook, Virginia to Vegas, Willa, Kutapira, Ben Dunnill, Will Stroet and more. In addition to roaming the Environmental Extravaganza and learning about the City’s range of annual environmental programs and events happening between Earth Day in April and World Oceans’ Day in June, attendees can visit the new ‘Canada 150 Zone’ featuring activities, crafts and a full lineup of Canadian talent on the Canada 150 stage.

“In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, this year’s Party for the Planet is even bigger and better than ever with unique celebrations and performances,” said Mayor Linda Hepner. As BC’s premier Earth Day event, Party for the Planet honours both our country and community’s ongoing commitment to environmental and sustainable initiatives. I encourage all to come out and enjoy this very special celebration full of free activities and entertainment for the whole family.”

"TD has been investing in Surrey in meaningful ways and for the past seven years has been the proud presenting sponsor of Party for the Planet, BC's largest Earth Day celebration," said Mauro Manzi, Senior Vice President, TD Bank Group. “TD has been committed to giving back to the City of Surrey, like through the annual TD Tree Day events or the recent gift to develop Forsyth Park in Surrey City Centre in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday. We are looking forward to celebrating with Surrey again in April as part of this milestone year."

Additional festival attractions include: Blink Acro, the annual tree and plant sale, a rock climbing wall and bike powered smoothie stop, an urban farmers market, a BC Lions autograph session, road hockey, eco-crafts, a variety of local vendors and more.
