mayor with shovel breaking ground

April 24, 2018

Surrey, BC – Mayor Linda Hepner along with representatives from Bayside Athletic Association broke ground Sunday on a new fieldhouse at South Surrey Athletic Park. When completed early next year, the new Bayside Athletic Association fieldhouse will include change rooms and public washrooms as well as space for Bayside on the upper floor.

This project is a result of a Partnering Agreement between City of Surrey and Bayside Athletic Association. The agreement has the city providing the site and constructing the facility. In return, Bayside contributes funds for the construction of the unfinished space, agrees to finish the space to meet their needs, and assumes responsibility for the operation and maintenance of that area. The city will operate and maintain the change rooms and public washrooms as it does for any typical washroom and change room facility built by the city.

The Bayside Athletic Association contributed $600,000 in January 2018 to this project. This project is scheduled for completion in April 2019.
